Thea Ellenberg
I received my bachelors degree in Interior Design from Syracuse
University, during which I studied architecture abroad in Florence,
Italy. Upon graduation I worked on Park Avenue for a large architectural
firm, Swanke Hayden Connell. I then decided to return to live in
Italy. While there I worked for architect Massimo Benvenuti.
After two years in Italy, I returned to the US to begin a masters
degree in Interior design at Cornell University.I received a research
travel grant and spent a summer doing research in Italy. I also received
a Foreign Language Fellowship to aid my research in Italian.
I began teaching interior design in the University of Georgia’s
Furnishing and Interiors program in 1993 and remained there for 10
years.While at UGA I taught interior design for five summers in Verona,
Italy.
I am also NCIDQ certified. This certification is given to those
who pass a rigorous, two-day exam offered by The National Council
for Interior Design Qualification.This is the only certifying exam
in the US and Canada and is the most highly honored form of professional
recognition in the field of Interior Design.
